Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje |
Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has urged the Federal Government to deploy more police personnel in the state, saying the status of Kano as a commercial nerve centre and as the most populous state in the country makes the call imperative.

Ganduje lamented that some states with lesser population had more police officers serving their residents.
The governor noted that the state had fewer police officers than it required while it hosts a Police College, adding that there was the need for at least 25 per cent of the trainees from the college to be retained in the state, especially in view of the security challenges facing the region.
On the menace of cattle rustling in Kano and neighboring states, the governor said reports reaching him indicated that the alleged culprits were hiding in Falgore Forest, assuring the DIG that he would partner with the governors of Bauchi, Kaduna and other concerned states to address the problem.
In a statement by the Director-General, Media and Communications, Malam Halilu Dantiye, the governor cautioned security agencies, who might be deployed in the area, to take into consideration the fact that many Fulani herdsmen were camped in the forest and should not be mistaken for criminals.

Ganduje commended the Police and other security agencies in the state for their commitment towards protecting lives and property, hoping that the spirit would be sustained.
Tsafe said the force was worried about the criminals, who used the Falgore Forest as hideout, explaining that the impending National Security Summit, which all governors, traditional rulers and Security agencies would attend, would serve as a forum to find a lasting solution to the problem and other security challenges facing the region
