Jonathan Is Not A Hero – Oby Ezekwesili

Leader of the Bring Back Our Girls group and former minister of education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, has said that President Goodluck Jonathan does not deserve the hero tittle for accepting defeat in the just concluded presidential poll.

DAILY POST reports Jonathan, before the INEC chairman could announce the final result of last Saturday’s presidential election, had called General Buhari to congratulate him for winning the election.

Following his decision, many Nigerians have been praising the president for saving the entire nation from disaster.

However, Ezekwesili says if only Nigerians knew the extent of damage President Jonathan has done to Nigeria, they won’t hero worship him.

She took to her Twitter page on Thursday, to air her views on the recently held presidential election.

She tweeted: “When a review of President Jonathan’s administration is done, we’ll realize how much damage sycophancy did to governance. Example? Chibok Girls,” she wrote.

“A leader must be without an inordinate desire to be serenaded with ‘good news’ or their team will never let them know the true state of affairs.

“An environment that rewards sycophancy encourages team to withhold accurate ‘bad’ news (problems) from the leader while serving up ‘good news’.

” When a leader makes hero worshiping costly to those who engage in it, he/she deprives the ‘sellers’ market to set the ‘Mediocrity Benchmark.’

“A critical success factor in governance is for the leader to both in word and deed convey a culture that abhors sycophancy. No hero worshiping.”

12 Reasons Why Women Love Bad Boys And Dump Nice Guys

You consider yourself outgoing, but conservative; interesting but a little shy; you can keep a conversation going, but with the right people... sounds good doesn't it? Why do the bad boys always seem to get the ladies?

For the purpose of clarification, bad boys in this hub mean boys that started smooth, cool, mysterious, and loving… but ended up emotionally unavailable, unattainable… even stretching into emotionally abusive; not those that are outright criminals. It’s important to note that bad boys come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. As many women (and men) can attest to… age does not always equal maturity.

Confidence followed up with indifference, sprinkled with a little bit of mystery, intrigue and excitement is what attracts most women to start. There are various reasons why women dump nice guys and go for bad boys. Some of them are stated below:

Control

No one respects a doormat. Nice guys don’t stamp their feet down or make any real demands. A bad boy doesn’t let a woman control him. Women can’t respect a man they can control.

Indifferent

Bad boys just simply don't give a damn. They can take it or leave it. . Bad boys are sending an unconscious message that they have great confidence, so they’re not afraid of losing the woman by misbehaving. Nice guys are sending a message that they don’t think their confidence is good enough, so they won’t misbehave. That's one reason why they fare well with women. If a woman says no, who cares? They move on to the next one, and they do it with the same verve and maverick attitude as they did the last one.

Predictable

Most women lead boring, predictable lives, so they’re attracted to people who are exciting and a bit unpredictable. Bad boys are always a challenge. Nice guys are never a challenge. They are predictable and lack no excitement and challenge.

Commitment

If a woman is afraid of commitment, she subconsciously knows she can avoid it with a bad boy, since she can never get close enough to him to have to go there. A nice guy will eventually want a commitment, and that’s scary.

Low self-esteem

Thousands of women who have been in relationships with men who treated them disrespectfully most times go for bad boys. Some of them married several of these men. Why? The women had, as children, been treated in ways that lowered their self-esteem. Consequently, as adults, they tended to fall into relationships that were consistent with what they were accustomed to, with men who treated them in ways that were familiar. A nice guy will treat them in a way they’re not familiar with. They then set to work trying to meet the man’s needs and make the relationship work better. They were accustomed to getting back far less than they gave and that pattern continued into the adult years. It was only when their self-esteem improved that they would recognize they deserved better.

Confident

That's right. They wouldn't be able to pull off half of the antics they do if they weren't brimming with confidence. Bad boys aren't just confident around their friends, but also in talking to the ladies at a friend's party. No matter where you look, women find confidence a major turn on. Looks matter less in attracting a woman, whereas showing that you have confidence is a very attractive quality. This is what makes women do whatever they can, maybe even to the point of obsession, to get this so-called bad boys to reform and turn into good boys. That is a feat that every woman that goes for bad boys fantasizes about achieving.

Adventurous

Ask yourself, "when was the last time I took a walk on the wild side?" If you are asking yourself that question, then you obviously aren't a rebel. The 'bad boys' are always testing the boundaries and pushing the envelope when it comes to their life - and women can't get enough of it. They find it intriguing. And when you put exciting and adventurous beside the other rebellious traits, it sends women into a tizzy.

Thrill

Doing something that was against the norm (or against parents’ wishes) was also a key motivating factor. Doing the wrong thing has an appeal, even if it’s only for a short time… or you drop the nice guy. “This guy was totally manly in every sense of the word. That is why I love him. Secondly, what kept me around him was the thought that I was sneaking and doing something I knew my parents wouldn’t approve of at all,” Carol confessed.

Masculine

Have you ever seen a bad boy who wasn’t hot? I’m sure there are a few, but they wouldn’t be able to get away with half the stuff they did if they didn’t look so good. This often goes hand-in-hand with being confident, indifferent, exciting, adventurous... etc. Bad boys are often rugged and in-control. That doesn't mean controlling; they just know how to get what they want. They speak clearly and confidently, they look you in the eye, they are passionate about what they believe in... but most importantly, they still know how to treat a lady.

Sex

They are great in bed. The quality of sex with bad boys is one of the reasons; women are attracted to bad boy. Women feel a nice guy won’t be good in bed. They sometimes like to be manhandled and think a nice guy won’t be able to take control and get the job done. A bad boy comes across as being able to deliver, even though that may not always be the case.

Challenge

In real life, although women dream of meeting perfect Prince Charming, a lot of times end up going for bad boys. It is more about the subconscious behavior of wanting challenges. The possibility of changing a bad boy from a serial playboy into a loving, supportive, feeling is always the pull for bad boy-addicted women. Women are designed to nurture. However, instead of doing this with children, they often end up doing it with bad boys. They think their love will save them. Nice guys rarely need to be saved. That’s why those situations tend to never work in most cases because women have refuse to understand that they cannot change a man but should love him for who he is or leave him. “My current bad boy is a puzzle I am trying to solve. He is manipulative and a misogynist. I am just trying to see how much I can change him,” a woman confessed. Nice guys don’t usually need to be fixed. Bad boys usually do, so they become a project. Women think if they can change them into perfect men, they will never leave them. Also, if they’re busy fixing someone else, they don’t have to look at what needs to be fixed in their own lives.

Protection

Historically, men have protected women — physically and otherwise. A woman subconsciously wants a man who will dominate her. She wants a man who she can feel safe with –her true knight and shining armor. Bad boys give the illusion of being able to protect women, while with nice guys, women aren’t so sure. Women don't dig men that are pushovers. A bad boys gives women an air of strength and togetherness. Essentially the confident, cocky bad boy image rubs off a little bit on her - and she laps it up!

APC Slams Alao-akala Over “sai Buhari-sai Akala” Posters

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has taken a swipe at the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Adebayo Alao-Akala, over the circulation of posters bearing pictures of the former governor and the President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari, apparently, to gain sympathy from the electorate ahead of next week’s governorship election in the state.

Campaign posters bearing the pictures of Messrs Buhari and Alao-Akala with “Sai Buhari, Sai Akala” boldly written on them have flooded particularly Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.Akala buhari
Reacting to the development, the Director of Publicity and Strategy of the Oyo State chapter of the APC, Olawale Sadare, described the development as “another shameful act coming from enemies of the good people of the state”.

“Not a few people found it unbelievable to see the picture of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on Alao-Akala’s campaign posters,” Mr. Sadare said. “Since Wednesday evening when those disgusting posters were sighted in parts of Ibadan, a good number of concerned citizens have been expressing their amazement at the development.

“Meanwhile, the ruling APC in the state view the action of the sponsors of such obnoxious campaign materials as a desperation taken too far. It is indeed another in the series of grand delusion which most members of the opposition have been feeding the public with in their bid to hijack power and return the state to the era of bad governance, official corruption and impunity.”

He added that Mr. Buhari, given “what he has always represented”, would not “contemplate throwing up a corrupt element for an election or appointment”.

In spite of the antics of the opposition in Oyo State to mislead the public, the APC remained confident that its candidate and incumbent Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, would be re-elected for an unprecedented second term on April 11, Mr. Sadare said.

Surround Yourself With ‘Right’ People, Mbaka Tells Buhari

Fiery Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, has congratulated General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) on his victory in the March 28 Presidential election.
Mbaka, whose New Year Message, “From Goodluck to Badluck,” became a major talking point during the campaigns for the election, said Buhari’s emergence was a divine victory for all Nigerians.
Speaking through his spokesman, Maximus Ugwuoke, Mbaka also noted that Buhari’s victory was a fulfillment of his prophecy in the New Year Message.
However, he urged the President-Elect to seek divine wisdom before appointing people who will work with him.
According to him, President Goodluck Jonathan’s biggest problem was that he surrounded himself with the “wrong people.”
Mbaka advised Buhari to avoid making the same mistake.
The cleric’s spokesman said, “It is with vindictive joy and glory to God that the Adoration Ministry, the nation and indeed the world saw the fulfillment of Fr. Mbaka’s New Year prophesy of change with the miraculous, victorious emergence of General Muhammed Buhari at the March 28th polls as the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We wish to restate that before President Goodluck became the President of this country, Fr. Mbaka prophesied it in his message titled ‘Okolo.’
“Today again, Buhari’s victory, among other lessons it portends to Nigerians, has once more confirmed to all and sundry that Fr. Mbaka is indeed a true Prophet of God and that his New Year message was indeed from the Oracle of the Holy Spirit as he declared.

“The ministry with magnanimous heart holds no grudges against anyone who attacked it in one way or the other at the rage of the controversies surrounding Fr. Mbaka’s message and view their actions as being orchestrated by their misconstruing of Fr. Mbaka’s prophetic calling.

“The Ministry joins the rest of Nigerians to congratulate Buhari as God’s chosen instrument of change to tackle the myriads of problems facing Nigeria and pray God to endow him with the wisdom to go about this onerous task.
“We see Buhari’s victory as divine victory to all Nigerians irrespective of our religious and ethnic divide.”
Urging Buhari to seek divine wisdom before choosing the people he would work with, he said, “The prayer of Fr. Mbaka is that God will give Buhari wisdom not to surround himself with wrong people – that was the major problem Jonathan’s administration faced.
“Fr. Mbaka has advocated that Nigerians should be patient with Buhari because the holes dug in the country are too much – holes of corruption, holes of unemployment, among others.”
The cleric said he will be the first to condemn Buhari if he fails to live up to expectations.

Rilwan Oshodi ordered to repay £1million.(pix)

A scammer who was the ringleader of a fraud gang has been ordered to repay nearly £1million which he stole from the life savings of an innocent victim.

Rilwan Oshodi bought Karen Budow's bank account details for just £3,200 and spent her savings on cheeseburgers, bottles of champagne and top-of-the-range computers.

He now claims he is so broke he can't even pay his lawyers - but a judge told him today that if he does not return his ill-gotten gains he will have to spend four more years in prison.

Nigerian Oshodi, 31, bought Ms Budow's Santander details from an Egyptian hacker Tamer Abdulhamid, who had persuaded her to hand them over as part of a fishing scam.

His girlfriend Annette Jabeth then posed as the victim and withdrew her £1million life savings, which the gang spent in a three-day shopping splurge in the New Year sales in January 2012.

Detectives said that their purchases had ranged from cheeseburgers to high-end computers and gold', while Oshodi spent £1,134 on taxis and bought expensive gadgets including a MacBook and an iPhone.

One picture of him even appears to show him holding a 'money sandwich', with Nigerian banknotes stashed between two slices of bread.

He was jailed for eight years in 2013 after being convicted of two counts of conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to conceal criminal property.

Appearing at Southwark Crown Court for a confiscation hearing today, Oshodi insisted he had not profited from the scam, and denied hiding money in overseas bank accounts. He said: 'If I have hidden the goods, if I have got money how come I can't pay my solicitor, how come I can't rent a house, how come I was still broke, how come I am still broke, how come I am still poor?

'Wouldn't I get myself a new car, would I not buy myself some new clothes, Louis Vuitton or something?'

But judge Stephen Robbins said: 'I reject what he said today... he was the main mover and architect of this fraud and he has hidden assets most likely outside this jurisdiction.

'He said he got nothing from it at all, no benefit directly.'

Determining Oshodi to have made £940,820.34 in profit from the fraud, the judge ordered that he repay the total sum within six months or face a further four years in jail.Abdulhamid was jailed for six years after admitting three counts of conspiracy to defraud, but this year he was ordered to repay just £686 out of the £74,000 profit he made from the scam.

During a raid of Oshodi's home, detectives discovered computers with details of more than 11,000 credit cards, including those of almost 8,500 UK customers.

In a victim impact statement, Ms Budow said she was 'physically shaking' when she was informed by the bank, adding: 'Since the theft I have been reimbursed the full amount by Santander.

'But the effect it has had on me personally has been one of complete violation of my privacy. People have gained access to my personal details and I fear what they will use the information for.'

Jabeth and five others were also jailed for being involved in the scam.

Reasons Why Girls/ladies Date Older Guys.

So there was a thread created earlier today about the age gap for a lady or guy to get married. I observed that many girls preferred to date older guys from their comments. I don't really see this as a bad thing but what I find ridiculous is a girl dating a guy way older than her. How can an 18 year old girl who is still struggling with JAMB or probably still in the University be dating a guy of 29-32 and be comfortable.

To me that's cradle robbery. When the guy started having sex you were probably still in kindergarten or wearing diapers and yet you find nothing bad in dating him.

However that is not what I want to dwell on. I discussed with some of my female friends as to why they prefer dating older men and here are some of the reasons I could garner.

1. Financial stability.
One of the Major reasons is Financial stability. The girls believe dating somebody older than them will help them escape some of their financial hurdles. They don't want to associate with young guys of their age who are still hustling to make paper. Some of them will not date you once you still depend on your parents. That's why some of them can date a married man. You find majority of these types in the Universities and other tertiary institutions.

2. Experience
One of the reasons I got from a girl is Experience. In her words she said "Older guys are more experienced in the matters of Love".Hmmm. I don't know how true this is. Is it that the older you are the more girls you would have dated and therefore you'll have experience? The Ladies should help us with explanations please.

3. Reliability/Trust
Another point Noted out is that they can easily trust these guys. One girl told me that she can easily trust an older guy and he has less tendencies to cheat. She says younger guys are still immature and adventurous so they cannot be fully trusted. Hmmm

4. Freedom
Another point noted is freedom. Some girls like the fact that an older guy will be too busy with his work to be insecure about her activities. You see cases of a girl who is in the university dating a working class guy far away and so she has the freedom to do whatever she wants with other young guys and her real boyfriend may not bother to interrogate her. This is not always the case though. As men are generally jealous.

5.Maturity
This is one of the major points that almost every girl who supports this cause raised. In their opinion,,older guys are way mature than guys of their age bracket. One girl on Nairaland said and I quote "sometimes they act their age and you are tempted to ask,,How old are you again?"
Lol,,as much as we know that maturity is not by age it could still be true that young guys may act their age sometimes but you cannot blame them as it is a phase of life everyone must pass.

But my question to the ladies is if you date an older guy because he may be mature are you also going to be mature in the relationship? You can't be acting like a kid and expect the other guy to keep tolerating you.

Please add yours.

Patience: I Haven't Packed Out Of Aso Rock

First Lady Patience Jonathan says she has not started packing out of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Mrs Jonathan was reacting to a media report on Wednesday that she had summoned her domestic staff and ordered them to pack her personal belongings in readiness for a change of guard.

The report had said that when it became evident by 6pm on Tuesday that President Goodluck Jonathan had lost his re-election bid, a truck made two trips transporting the first lady's property to an undisclosed destination.

But Mrs. Jonathan's spokesman, Mr Ayo Adewuyi, in a telephone chat with our correspondent described the report as untrue.

Adewuyi also dispelled the rumours that the first lady had travelled out of the country.

"She (Patience) is at home. Just leave us out of any controversy. She did not travel to anywhere. She is very much around in her residence," Adewuyi said.

On why Mrs. Jonathan had not gone to office since her husband lost the Saturday's presidential poll, Adewuyi simply said: "You should know that she does not have to be in the office every time".

Top 5 Incumbent President Who Conceded Defeat In Africa

1. ADEN ABDULLAH OSMAN DAAR: SOMALIA
Aden Daar is a Somali politician popularly known as Aden Adde. He was the first Presidentof Somalia, serving from July 1, 1960 to June 10, 1967. Daar was born in 1908 in the town of Beledweyne, situated in the south-central Hiranregion of the former Italian Somaliland. His family hailed from the Hawiyeclan. Daar joined the incipient Somali Youth League (SYL) political party in 1944, a nationalist organization that campaigned for an independent Somalia. Quickly rising through the ranks, he became the local secretary of the SYL's Beledweyne branch in 1946. A decade later, he became Chairman of the National Legislative Assembly, and would eventually lead the SYL itself two years afterwards. By the time Somalia gained its independence in 1960, Daar had attained widespread prominence as a nationalist figure. In short order, he was elected the country's first President, a position he would assume from 1960 to 1967. Fellow SYL member Haji Bashir Ismail Yusufwould serve as the first President of the Somali National Assembly on 1 July 1960. In the 1967 presidential election, Daar was defeated by Abdirashid Ali Shermarke, his former Prime Minister. His term as president ended on June 10, 1967. 2. KENNETH DAVID KAUNDA: ZAMBIA
Kenneth Kaunda served as the first Presidentof Zambia, from 1964 to 1991.

Dissatisfied with Nkumbula's leadership of the African National Congress, he broke away and founded the Zambian African National Congress, later becoming the head of the United National Independence Party. He was the first President of the independent Zambia. From 1968, all political parties except UNIP were banned. At the same time, Kaunda oversaw the acquisition of majority stakes in key foreign-owned companies. The oil crisis of 1973 and a slump in export revenues put Zambia in a state of economic crisis.
International pressure forced Kaunda to change the rules that had kept him in power. This actually led to a Multi-party elections in 1991, in which Frederick Chiluba, the leader of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy won. Kuanda being the leader of Zambia since independence could have rigged or might have not taken the outcome of the election. Kaunda surprised the world by stepping down for Frederick Chiluba in 1991.

3. ABDOULAYE WADE: SENEGAL
Abdoulaye Wade was born in Kébémer, Senegal; officially, he was born in 1926, although some claim he was born several years earlier, and the record-keeping of the time is not considered particularly reliable. In July 2008, the National Assembly approved a constitutional amendment increasing the length of the presidential term to seven years, as it was prior to the adoption of the 2001 constitution. This extension would not apply to Wade's 2007–2012 term, but Minister of Justice Madické Niangstressed on this occasion that Wade could potentially run for re-election in 2012 if he was still healthy. Later, on September 17, 2009, Wade confirmed that he planned to run for a third term in 2012 "if God gives me a long life".
Wade, during a 14 July 2011 speech to supporters, used the Wolof language“‘’Ma waxoon waxeet’’” (“‘’I said it, I (can) take it back’’”) in explaining his decision to go back on his 2007 pledge not to run for another term. The phrase subsequently became a popular rallying cry for the anti-Wade opposition. On January 27, 2012, Abdoulaye Wade was officially approved by the Constitutional Council to run for a highly controversial third and last term. Following this declaration, enraged mobs engaged in violent protests throughout the city. After the first round vote, Abdoulaye Wade acknowledged on 27 February 2012 that he had failed to win a majority in the election and would have to face a run-off. He subsequently lost the second round of voting, held on 25 March 2012, to the opposition candidate Macky Sall; Sall had received the backing of all of the candidates who were defeated in the first round, and he defeated Wade by a wide margin. Wade conceded defeat and Sall succeeded Wade as President on 2 April 2012.

4. RUPIAH BWEZANI BANDA: ZAMBIA
Rupiah Banda is a Zambian politician who was President of Zambia from 2008 to 2011.

As the candidate of the governing Movement for Multiparty Democracy(MMD), he narrowly won the October 2008 presidential election, according to official results. In his concession speech, outgoing President Banda noted that, the people of Zambia had spoken through the democratic process and there was the need to obey it.
"The time now is for maturity, for composure and for compassion. To the victors, I say this: you have the right to celebrate but do so with a magnanimous heart. Enjoy the hour but remember that a term of government is for years. He stated
He further admonished the new president to “remember that the next election will judge you also. I have no ill-feelings in my heart; there is no malice in my words. I wish him well in his years as president. I pray his policies will bear fruit."
Reminding the people of the role MMD had played in the country’s growth and development, and emphasized that, “The Zambia we know today was built by an MMD government. We know our place in history and we know that we can come back to lead again in the future. A new leadership will be chosen, and that leadership will be from the younger generation.
"My generation, the generation of the independence struggle-- must now give way to new ideas; ideas for the 21st century. From this defeat, a new, younger MMD will be re-born.

Jonathan Has Nothing To Fear – Buhari

Nigeria’s president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday said he was extending a hand of conciliation to President Goodluck Jonathan after a rancorous presidential election, with an assurance that Mr. Jonathan has “nothing to fear” after losing power.

Mr. Buhari spoke after receiving the Certificate of Return as the president-elect, from the Independent National Electoral Commission.

President Jonathan earned international praise Tuesday after conceding defeat and telephoning Mr. Buhari to congratulate him even before the official announcement of election results by INEC.

In his speech early Wednesday, President Jonathan said he kept his promise of credible and peaceful elections, and reaffirmed his commitment not to plunge the nation into bloodshed over his political ambition.

In what appeared a direct response to the president’s gesture, Mr. Buhari said the nation should put behind the turbulence of electioneering and accept the “change” his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, promises.

He said he holds no grudge against anyone, including members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the president’s team.

“But despite the rancour of the elections, I extend a hand of friendship and conciliation to President Jonathan and his team. I hereby wish to state that I harbour no ill will against anyone,” Mr. Buhari said.”

“Let me state clearly that President Jonathan has nothing to fear from me. Although we may not agree on the methods of governing the nation, he is a great Nigerian and still our president,” he said.

The president-elect said Mr. Jonathan deserves the support and “permanent respect” of all Nigerians by virtue of the office he has held.

“This is how an honourable nation treats its servants and conducts its affairs; and this is how Nigeria should be,” he said, adding that he will meet with the president for both sides to work out a smooth transition.

Mr. Buhari said Nigerians should put the past, especially the recent, behind, but must not forget to learn from “old battles and past grievances—and learn to forge ahead”.

Mr. Buhari said he has also put behind the controversy over his academic eligibility for the election.

“Some unfortunate issues about my eligibility have been raised during the campaign. I wish to state that through devotion to this nation, everything I have learned and done has been to enable me to make the best possible contribution to public life. If I had judged myself incapable of governing I would never have sought to impose myself on it. I have served in various capacities and have always put in my best,” he said.

He said his government will be a listening one and will treat all Nigerians equally.

“I pledge myself and our in-coming administration to just and principled governance. There shall be no bias against or favouritism for any Nigerian based on ethnicity, religion, region, gender or social status. I pledge myself and the government to the rule of law, in which none shall be so above the law that they are not subject to its dictates, and none shall be so below it that they are not availed of its protection.

“You shall be able to go to bed knowing that you are safe and that your constitutional rights remain in safe hands. You shall be able to voice your opinion without fear of reprisal or victimisation. My love and concern for this nation and what I desire for it extends to all, even to those who do not like us or our politics.

“You are all my people and I shall treat every one of you as my own. I shall work for those who voted for me as well as those who voted against me and even for those who did not vote at all. We all live under one name as one nation: we are all Nigerians.”

25 Die, Many Injured In Buhari Win Celebrations

Reports just reaching us indicate that no fewer than 25 people died in Abuja, Kano, Makurdi and Niger yesterday, while celebrating the victory of President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.

Vanguard reports that while 17 of the victims died in Kano, four died in Abuja, three in Kontagora, Niger State and one in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, while several others sustained injuries.
However, police authorities in Kano claimed only seven bodies were discovered by their men after the celebration.
According to an eyewitness, Ali Sufi of Naibawa quarters, three people were crushed to death at Naibawa U-turn, when a man in a Toyota Camry car lost control and rammed into those celebrating.

Sufi, further disclosed that one Sabo Ali, an ad hoc staff of communications giant, Etisalat, lost his life alongside his friend when a reckless driver knocked them down at Ungwa Uku end of Zaria Road within Kano metropolis.
Confirming Sabo’s death, guardian to the deceased, Mallam Idi Naibawa said that he (Sabo) died yesterday morning at Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital from injuries he sustained in the accident.

Idi Naibawa explained that “a good Samaritan, who identified Sabo’s motorcycle reported the accident, and our fear was confirmed at Yarakwa police station that rescued and took him to the hospital.
“We have accepted his death as a fulfilment of destiny and barring any hitch, Sabo would be buried before 5p.m. local time today (yesterday).”
In another eye witness account, Ibrahim Dogo, a resident of Naibawa quarters in Kano said that two teenagers were crushed to death along Zaria Road by a crazy driver.
Dogo said: “We received two dead bodies this morning at the Tiga Naibawa quarters and we are set to bury them.”

Asari Dokubo Issues A New Threat

Asari Dokubo, the former militant who promised to unleash violence on the country if the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan failed in election, has issued a new threat.

He promised to return “to the creeks” and blamed the Yoruba and Hausa for working against Igbo and Niger Deltans.

Dokubo said the election of General Muhammadu Buhari as president “is a clear indication that the country is not united” and blamed the Yoruba and Hausa for cooperating to frustrate Jonathan, who applauds from the Niger Delta region.

In a comment realesed by his spokesperson Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro, Dokubo saud: “Nigerian union clearly reinforces the fact of self determination and that Nigeria remains a very divided and separated entity whose claim to unity remains a fraud of gargantuan proportion.

“The celebrated victory of Buhari is not the victory of the people but victory of regional conspiracy and supremacy. The voting Partern has clearly shown that the Gambari North and the Yorubas are United in the conquest of the Niger Deltans and the Igbos of defunct Biafra with the middle belt now used as pawns.

“The victory of Muhammadu Buhari is a historical reminder that we are a conquered people who are mere appendages existing at the pleasure of the supremacist and the regional overlords.

“We remain a people separated by our ideologies and interests, we are not integrated nor reconciled.”

Former militant supposed that the elect administration could endeavor to sabotage the interest of the Niger Delta and called for a return to the creeks.

He added: “The conditions that advanced the need to embrace the creeks have been sadly re energised, it is clear that a vicious government who may maim and murder the voice of the so called minorities may have just been birthed. Indeed integration is nonexistent as regional gang ups and supremacy is symbolic with this victory.

“While President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan enjoys his moments and bask in the euphoria of a now world renowned statesman having congratulated Muhammadu Buhari his conqueror, we must quickly remind that our struggle was never about Jonathan nor about presidency.

“President Goodluck Jonathan was an establishment beneficiary of our struggle, our sweat and blood that many bled and died for,  he was never in the struggle and he can never wish away our collective march forward for statesmanship. Yes Indeed to an extent he was a  mitigating factor in self determination pursuit as we went on sabbatical, this mitigation he seem to have willingly repudiated.

“The days coming will be critical, we shall study all the conditions and consult widely before determining the way going forward for our collective existence and survival as a people. The days coming shall either drive the quest of integration or further separate us.”

It should be noted that the fake tweet circulated yesterday on the media. It stated that Asari Dokubo acclaimed President Jonathan and said he is a friend to any government, but later former militant denied the such news, saying that he would stay loyal to Jonathan.

Gani Adams Praises Buhari, Says He’s Nigeria’s Abraham Lincoln

The Oodua Peoples Congress on Wednesday sent a congratulatory message to President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, over his election victory.

The National Coordinator of the Congress, Gani Adams, in the congratulatory message made available to PREMIUM TIMES said the success of Mr. Buhari at the election across the country proved he is the choice of the people. Mr. Adams commended him for his resilience and tenacity over the years.

“I wish to send my congratulations to the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, on his success in the recently-concluded presidential election. By his resounding success in the election across the country, General Buhari has proved that he is the choice of the people,” Mr. Adams stated.

“I commend his resilience and tenacity over the years which have seen him equal the record of great leaders like Abraham Lincoln of the USA. His victory is a lesson to all of us that we can be what we want to be if we are patient and persistent in our legitimate pursuits in life”.

“His speeches before, during and after the election are also commendable because they went a long way in dousing the tension in the country.

This actually shows that the ‘Peoples General’ as he is fondly called is indeed a statesman’.

The Congress leader called on Mr. Buhari to begin to see himself as the president-elect of all Nigerians and not just that of the All Progressives Congress.

“However, having won the election, I want the president-elect to begin to see himself as the president-elect of all Nigerians and not just that of the All Progressives Congress (APC). For him, it is time to mend whatever differences that may have arisen as a result of the election.

“It is time for all Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliation, to come together to continue to build our nation in a positive way, which of course, should be the focus of the president-elect himself and every other political leader across the various political parties in the country”, Mr. Adams said.

“And for all of us, it is a new dawn in the annals of the country for an opposition party to win in a popular election.

Mr. Adams also congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan for creating a level-playing ground for all the parties that contested the election and the high spirit of sportsmanship he displayed when he called to congratulate the president-elect even before all the results were released.

“By his action, President Jonathan has truly lived up to his statement that his ambition is not worth the life of any Nigerian. This is an exemplary feat, which any other presidents coming after him must not fall short of achieving.

“And to all Nigerians, who by their participation in the election also deserve kudos as they defied the weather, distance and other hurdles to cast their votes. Their actions have revealed that democracy in the country has come to stay”.

“I urge them not to rest on their oars as their consistency in holding leaders accountable to their promises will go a long way in bringing out the best from the public office holders.

Mr. Adams was among notable personalities in the South-West opposed to Mr. Buhari’s election.

Shortly before the election, he organised a pro-Jonathan rally in Lagos which turned violent.

He promised to deliver six million votes to Mr. Jonathan, but he was unable to do so.
