We won't make any attempt to impeach Fayose

The speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Kola Oluwawole, has assured the people of the state that the Assembly under him won’t do anything to suggest that they are making attempt to impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Assuring that the Assembly would place high premium on the peace of the State, Oluwawole said the House would neither be polarised nor bicker with the executive in the name of politics, to prevent any crisis that could heat up the polity.

The Speaker added that these twin problems were responsible for the ‘war’ waged against Fayose by the immediate past Adeale Omirin-led 19 lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the speaker, Stephen Gbadamosi, Oluwawole made these comments while featuring on a live state television programme on Saturday.

Fayose had also warned them against attempting to impeach him on June 5 while inaugurating the House, saying “I am a man made by God, nobody can pull me down”.

THISDAY recalled that the APC lawmakers had made spirited attempt to impeach the Governor over alleged gross misconduct, which triggered series of protests and blockage of the roads for weeks before their tenure terminated on June 5.

The Speaker while assuring the people stated that: “Ekiti people voted for us 11th of April in expectation of new things. By the grace of God, we, the 26 lawmakers, have resolved to do our jobs well. We will not cheat the people; we will not cheat Fayose.

“We won’t wage war against Ekiti State. We won’t disappoint you. See what happened recently: Our governor was voted for and all stakeholders saw that he was voted for, but some people said they wanted to sack him, against the wish of the people. They waged war against the state. We won’t do that to the people of Ekiti,” Oluwawole said.
