Sad Times: 3 Lecturers Pass On In 2 Weeks

It was a bitter pill to swallow for lecturers and students of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, as two of their lecturers died within the space of two weeks due to unidentified illnesses.
According to reliable sources, the sickness began when one of the lecturers, Dr. O. Efeyena, applied for admission at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and was admitted to undertake a Ph.D programme in another course; following which he went for medical screening as part of the requirements to study in the institution.

However, it was during the medical screening that it was discovered by health officials that he had a lump, and as such, required surgery. The surgery was said to have been successful but Dr. Efeyena died a few days later.
It was gathered that the second lecturer, Mr. J. Edegware, suffered partial stroke, but was still coming to work and was seen at the department a day before his death.
In a related development, another lecturer from the Department of Library and Information Science, Mr. Itedjere, died after a brief illness penultimate Saturday.
Meanwhile, a mild drama occurred at the welcome party of the Department of Sociology and Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, as the Students’ Union Government (SUG) president, Comrade Sajini Kelvin stormed out of the party after a failed attempt to make a speech.

The SUG president who made an appearance in the course of the event, attempted to address the students, but his efforts were greeted with a negative quizzical response of “who you help” from the students.
However, this response, our reporter learnt, was sequel to the fact that the attempt was made in the middle of a presentation by a contestant
