A 34-year-old man, Solomon Ajisafe alongside his sister, Ajayi Ayomide have been arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrates Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly pouring pepper into the private part of his girlfriend identified as Tope Amuda.
Both suspects were arraigned on a three count charge of inflicting bodily harm and conspiracy to commit sodomy.
The charge reads, “That you, Solomon Ajisafe, Ayomide Ajayi and others now at large, on June 14, 2015, at about 7pm on Aminu Toyin Street, Igbo-Olomu, Lagos, in the Ikorodu Magisterial District, did assault one Opeyemi Amuda by beating her with cane all over her body; that you indecently and unlawfully assaulted her by inserting pepper and a bottle inside her vagina, which caused her bodily harm.”
According to the police, the crime contravenes Section 409 of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the incident which happened at number 9 Aminu Toyin Street, Igbo-Olumo on June 19th saw Ajisafe and his sister attacking Amuda by inserting powdered pepper into her private part for allegedly committing adultery and insulting their mother.
Amuda was said to have gone insane as a result of the assault she suffered in the hands of the accused persons.
While commenting on the assault, the Coordinator of Women Arise Initiative at Igbo Olumo, Deacon Obatungashe Adebayo, said the accused persons should be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Adebayo affirmed, “This is a very sad development. It is just like the case of the Ejigbo sodomy and we wonder why they will go this far to torture somebody. I saw the victim and she is in a very bad shape. She has ran mad. She is defecting and urinating on herself.
”When she was brought to the court, she could not say any sensible word and she defecated all over her body. We are going to follow this case as Dr. Joe-Oke Odumakin, our President has taken interest in the case and she has condemned this ugly act. We will ensure that others involved in treating this woman like an animal will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
The Magistrate, Mrs Afeez consequently ordered the accused to be remanded in prison while directing that Amuda be taken to a rehabilitation centre for three months.
Afeez however adjourned the case till July 15th, 2015.
