Unknown gunmen suspected to be thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday killed eleven teachers in Chito, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
DAILY POST gathered that the deceased teachers were preparing to attend the Labour Congress meeting holding in Makurdi, the State capital when the incident occurred.
The gunmen allegedly opened fire on the teachers after a man they were pursuing ran into their midst.
Our correspondent reports that the assailants were alleged to be PDP thugs who were on rampage after some of their fellow members absconded with the money they were to share during the last elections.
The State Commissioner of police, Mr Hycinth Dagala could not confirm the report as at press time, as the call put across to him was answered by another officers who said the Commissioner was in a meeting.
