Exercises For Pregnant Women

Although walking, dancing and swimming are rated the best exercises during pregnancy and are usually recommended for pregnant women by their doctors, they are not the only exercises a pregnant woman should engage in. There are other simple and very definite exercises that can also be applied to help make pre-natal period memorable. These exercises help a pregnant woman to improve her core strength, strengthen her lower back, tone-up, stretch and relax her muscles and also help her to easily regain her shape after delivery. Cat-cow pose: This is a yoga stretch, and it is a great way to get your spine moving. It prevents back pain during pregnancy. Get on your knees with your palm on the floor and gently rock from cat to cow pose. It will get your spine and back very strong.

Donkey kick: The donkey kick is a combination exercise that incorporates the arm and shoulder stability, hip and leg strength and core abdominal stability. This exercise also strengthens the lower back. While on your palms and knees, slowly stretch your right leg backward and your left leg forward. Alternate after five seconds.

Wall press: Pressing against the wall during pregnancy is a great way to strengthen and improve strength. Stand away from the wall a little, with your palm on the wall slowly press your body into the wall by bending your elbow.

Yoga: This form of exercise is like a spiritual route to relaxed mind and healthy body. During pregnancy, your body goes through lots of changes that are not only physical but also hormonal. Pre-natal yoga brings peace and quietness during this intense special period. It strengthens and calms your body and mind.
