Top 10 Questions For Atiku To Answer Before The 2019 Presidential Election

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Adamawa, Nigeria's former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election is a man that has been around politically for about 3 decades.

Many people believe that the presidential election in 2019 is his last realistic chance of achieving his long-term ambition of becoming president of Nigeria.

As a political analyst and observer, I have a few questions for him just like the ones I asked President Muhammadu Buhari last month.

I have streamlined the questions and have compiled my list of:

Top 10 Questions for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to Answer Before the 2019 Presidential Election

1. Many Nigerians see you as desperate to become president even when you were Vice President to General (Rtd.) Olusegun Obasanjo, why are you so eager and determined to be president?

2. Your supporters say you are a successful businessman and that you have the capacity to make Nigeria a prosperous country. Yet, there is no clear explanation on how you became wealthy. Your salary and pay up until your retirement from the Nigerian Customs Service as Deputy Director, is not commensurate with your wealth, can you identify a particular breakthrough business deal you had that made you wealthy?

3. Your ex-boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo had some very harsh words and descriptions of you in his book, 'My Watch'. You have not sued him for libel or vigorously countered his allegations in the book, does this mean they are true?

4. There are also documents and publications that are in the public domain that seem to indicate that you might have criminal cases to answer in the United States of America. In fact, at least one of your known associates, former US congressman, William Jefferson has been convicted there for corruption. How do you react to these events and allegations that appear tarnish your image?

5. Your opponents in the All Progressives Congress (APC) say you cannot visit the United States for fear of arrest over the criminal case already mentioned above. Will you make an attempt to visit the United States before the 2019 election?

6. What is your biggest achievement so far that you think Nigerians should know about and consider to decide to vote for you?

7. Why do you think you are potentially better president than the incumbent and your main opponent, Muhammadu Buhari?

8. Can you give us the key areas an Atiku administration would focus on if you are elected president?

9. Many Nigerians seem to agree that corruption is Nigeria's biggest problem. Not much has been heard from you on how you would fight it. Can you tell us how you would fight corruption?

10. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your chances of winning the presidential election in February 2019?

There you have it folks, I hope Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will take time out to answer these questions as part of the effort to deepen our democracy and enlighten the electorate.
