The South African High Court has sentenced Gugulethu Thwala and Koketso Moyo to 18 and 14 years in jail, respectively, for burning a 19-year-old girl, Boitumelo Dlamini, to death for dating one of their ex boyfriends, Tokelo Makhelepho.
The incident happened in 2015. The two ladies, in the company of two others who are yet to know their fate, burnt Dlamini to death while recording a video of her screaming as they laughed.
They were sentenced to 18 and 14 years respectively for murder and both got an additional 5 years for kidnapping.
Mosopi, Koketso Moyo, Gugulethu “Sharon” Thwala, and Victor Pilane had been charged with kidnapping and murdering Boitumelo Dlamini.
The four allegedly kidnapped Dlamini at Eletsa High School in Letlhabile near Brits on June 18, 2015, after Mosopi accused her of dating her boyfriend. Dlamini was allegedly doused with petrol and set ablaze.
