Parents in Kaduna state came out en mass in solidarity with the state government's plan to sack over 21,000 teachers that failed the October 2017 competency test. On Wednesday, the National leader of the Nigeria Labour Congress led teachers in the state to protest against the planned strike.
The NLC leaders are demanding the re-training of the teachers, a decision the state government is kicking against. Governor Nasir El-Rufai in a recent interview with Channels TV said he cannot re-train illiterates that failed primary four set of questions that was given to them during the competency test.
The parents on the state came out to show their support for the reforms the state government is embarking in the education sector.
