Kambwili and his elder brother were traveling for a funeral when their vehicle lost control and overturned several times.

The road accident happened at Kapena Village in Mwense District and occurred when his vehicle attempted to evade a cyclist who was hit and is reported to have died.

Kambwili's vehicle was also carrying a casket for the deceased.
