Lady Injured After Gunpowder Accident Abandoned By In-laws At Hospital In Awka

Thirty-four-year old Mrs. Ukamaka Okeke of Umuaru kindred Umuzocha Awka was involved in a gunpowder fire accident few days ago in her abode. ..


She ekes out a living as a 'canon gun shooter' during festivities and burials, a cultural tradition in Igbo land where practitioners perform gun salutes. But as shared by a Facebook user, the lady's in laws ran out of help and had to abandon her. The Facebook user, Chuk Wu, writes,

"She was burnt in what can only be described as occupational hazard. Her Husband who does Mkpo na ana has passed away so she took over the craft but an accident occurred and the whole place went up in explosion and she is fighting to stay alive and look after the kids.

Some people took over the matter when the ladys in laws ran out of help and had to abandon her. Tell me how else someone can show the seriousness of the injury sustained by this lady and can you imagine that Chi baby who is been helping her is now also sick and depressed. We need to intervene in helping the two people."
