Abia State Police Command on Wednesday, March 22, arrested five men who
ganged raped a young woman in a bush. Report made by the victim
identified as Tochi from Isiala – Ngwa South LGA, led to the arrest of
Ihechinmere Levi ‘m’, Jude Onyeocha ‘m’, Otumdi Onyeocha ‘m’, Chiemezuo
John ‘m’ and Emmanuel Ekpo ‘m’ all of Umuala Village. The suspects
will be charged to court appropriately. ....
Parading the suspects along with others before
newsmen at the state police headquarters on March 21st, the
Commissioner of Police, CP 'Leye Oyebade said his men also foiled a
kidnap attempt and arrested the suspects.
Sequel to an information received on 02/03/2017 at about 1400hrs, from
one Kingsley Okoronkwo ‘m’ of Ogbor-Hill in Aba, that some boys have
concluded plots to kidnap him; detectives attached to Eziama Division
swung into action and arrested the following suspects: Uzoma Basil
25yrs, Benjamin Emmanuel 22yrs, Ifeanyi Chika 25yrs, Kelechi Anozie
25yrs, Nelson Ikechukwu Otiuri 28yrs (arms supplier) and Chinonso
Iheanyi 24yrs (native doctor). During the preliminary investigation,
the suspects confessed to the allegation while discreet investigation is
also ongoing with a view to recovering their weapons.
In another development, on March 16th, there was a report from one Eze
Nnanna ‘m’ of Aba, that some person(s) have been threatening to kidnap
and eliminate him if he fails to co-operate, he stated further that he
was ordered by the suspect(s) to pay the sum of N500,000.00 into a
Diamond Bank Account with Number 0071401293 or risk being kidnapped.
Subsequently, on 22/02/2017 one Kelvin Orji was arrested at Diamond
Bank, Umuahia trying to operate the said Account and this led to the
arrest of one Ezekiel Nnanna ‘m’, a younger brother to the complainant.
On interrogation Ezekiel Nnanna ‘m’ confessed to be the sole person
behind the threat to kidnap his brother, that he simply collected an
account number from the first suspect which he sent to his brother to
pay in half a million naira or risk being kidnapped.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS/RECOVERY OF FIRE ARM: On 26/02/2017 at
about 0030hrs, following a tip off, personnel of 55 Police Mobile
Force on intensive STOP AND SEARCH Operation at Onuimo Nipping Point
along Aba / Port Harcourt Expressway, arrested one Femi Onyebuchi with a
locally made Revolver Pistol and five rounds of live ammunition/one
expended shell. Later on the same day at about 0600hrs, one other
suspect Stephen (surname unknown) a member of the syndicate was arrested
with an unregistered Red QLink motorcycle.
ARREST OF FRAUDSTERS: On 01/03/2017 at about 0820hrs, in response to a
distress call at Owerri Road by Kaduna Street Umuahia, the duo of
Nwokocha Lucky ‘m’ and Rekiyat Sunday
‘f’ both of Umukalu Ntigha and Obikabia respectively in Isiala Ngwa
North LGA were arrested. The suspects, who specialized in picking
unsuspecting passengers to unknown destinations, rob and defraud them of
their belongings, were intercepted by mob while attempting to pick an
unsuspecting victim. Suspects confessed to the crime and victims of
their nefarious activities have surfaced to identify them. One
Volkswagen Vento Saloon car with registration No. RIVERS PBT 422 DT was
recovered from them while effort is on towards arresting other members
of their syndicate.
ARREST OF ROBBERY SUSPECT: On 08/03/2017 at about 1500hrs, one Akujiobi
Ikechukwu ‘m’ of Adindu Street off Omuma Road Aba, was arrested
following a report made on 26/01/2017 by one Uchenna Obiefule ‘m’ of
Aba, that he was robbed of his belongings by six (6) unknown men on
21/01/2017 at about 1400hrs along Azikiwe Road Aba, which he could
identify them if seen. Items robbed from the complainant are: Gold
necklace valued N315,000.00, three (3) Iphones valued N690,000.00 and
one Samsung phone valued N11,000.00; total value of items stolen
N1.16million. The suspect has confessed to his participation in the
crime. Investigation is still in progress toward recoveries and
apprehension of cohorts.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT: On 10/03/2017 at about 2350hrs, the
eagle eyed patrol team of Central Police Station Aba while on routine
patrol along Ama Ogbonna by Okigwe Road Aba, intercepted a taxi which
four occupants, jumped out of at the sight of the Patrol team. The
driver, one Ejiba Ugochukwu was arrested and intensified chase led to
the arrest of one Sopuruchi Chigbu, aged 20yrs, ‘m’ of Aba. The
suspect has confessed to membership of an armed robbery gang. Effort is
on in arresting other members of his gang.
RECOVERY OF STOLEN VEHICLE/ARREST OF SUSPECTS: Consequent upon
information received on 20/03/2017 at about 2130hrs that some hoodlums
were planning to sell a black Toyota Camry car with registration No.
RIVERS CU 244 PHC suspected to have been stolen; detectives attached to
Eziama Division swiftly raced to the scene, laid ambush and arrested
the duo of Victor Eborgu and Ohuru Santus Orji both males of No. 16
Ezimba Street, Ogbor-hill and No. 11 Ukaegbu Road Aba respectively.
Suspects have confessed to removing the vehicle from where parked along
Aba Road in Umuahia. It is worthy of note that the suspects were
recently released from Prison while awaiting trial on similar incident.
Investigation has commenced with a view to recovering more vehicles
and arresting members of syndicate.
THREAT TO LIFE/DEMAND: On 16/02/2017, one Chief Ukpai Agwu, reported
through a distress call that he received a text from an unknown person
via Etisalat GSM No. 09079430690 that his life is in danger and that
from then on, he would be assassinated. Following the report,
Detectives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State CID waded into
action and played along with the suspect who eventually furnished a UBA
account number for payment of ransom. On 21/03/2017, one Yahaya Sunday
25yrs, ‘m’ of Oda Village, in Ankpa LGA, Kogi State, who resident in
Oyo State was arrested in UBA Dugbe Ibadan, Oyo State as he went to
withdraw a fictitious amount paid into the account.
ARMED ROBBERY/BURGLARY/STEALING: On 16th and 17th March 2017, the house
of one Beatrice Okpi ‘f’ at Low Cost Housing Estate Umuahia was raided
by unknown armed men who carted away her DVD set, three (3) big GSM
phones, mattress, one Plasma TV and cash sum of N10,000.00. On
19/03/2017 at about 0200hrs the same hoodlums raided the house of one
Uche Jonathan ‘m’ at the same Housing Estate and robbed him of two
welding machines valued N46,000.00. Also on 25/02/2017 the same
hoodlums ransacked the shop of one Emeka Aharaumunna at the same Estate
and carted away six Generating Plants valued N450,000.00. Then today,
21/03/2017 at about 0130hrs the hoodlums stormed the house of one
Pastor Gabriel Nwankwo of same Estate and fired some shots in an attempt
to break into his house for robbery. Following the intervention of the
neighbourhood watch, the suspects; Obinna Anyanwu ‘m’, of Mpam Ahiazu
Mbaise in Imo State and one Chinedu Awa alias Pastor ‘m’, of Ndi Udenna
Awoke, Ohafia in Abia State, were arrested. Items recovered from them
are: Glass table, one tiger Generating plant, two mattresses, one TV
set, Two DVD, one electric pressing iron, two loud speakers, Electric
wire, one standing fan, one bag, Glass cups and two knives.
Investigation has commenced with a view to arresting other members of
the gang and recovering more stolen items.
All the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
