The dad of a newborn baby died after downing a bottle of tequila without stopping in a bid to win a £700 bet. Kelvin Rafael Mejia collapsed seconds after being handed the cash on stage at a nightclub in the Dominic Republic. Police say there are varying accounts of how the fatal gamble came about.

Local media reported that the man was the father of a month-old baby and that he was considered as a healthy, very friendly young man.
