A policeman was, on Tuesday, injured by some secondary school students in Ikoyi area of Lagos State after they went on the rampage during a cult clash. The arrested students were suspected to be cult members who were on a reprisal at another secondary school in the Lagos community....

In his confession, the leader of the gang, identified as Korede, disclosed that they had gone on a reprisal attack on rival cult gang members who were students of another senior secondary school in the same area.

He disclosed that some female students of his school had engaged some female students of the other school in a shouting match while in a commercial bus last week.

This reportedly led to a fight between the girls, but some male students of one of the schools joined in the fight and injured three girls from the suspect’s school.

The suspect said further: “While we were fighting, some policemen arrived at the scene. I mistakenly injured a policeman. What happened was that the policeman grabbed hold of the cutlass that I was holding and as I attempted to drag the cutlass from his grip, he got injured in the process.”

When contacted, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said that the suspects were involved in gangsterism and would be charged to a juvenile court.
