Islamic Cleric Kidnapped By Gunmen Along Kaduna-Jos Expressway

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a prominent Islamic Preacher, Sheikh Abdulaziz Yusfuf in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna state. Spokesman for the Kaduna Police command, Aliyu Usman who confirmed the incident to Channels Television in Kaduna, says that the police in collaboration with other security agencies are doing everything possible to rescue the cleric and also arrest his abductors.

Reacting to the abductio, JNI in a statement signed by its Secretary General, Dr Khalid Abubakar strongly condemn the unfortunate rise of kidnappings in the country, and therefore urged the government at all levels to rise up and address increasing cases of such incidents.

The statement also appeals to the government and security agencies at all levels to do everything possible to rescue the abducted Islamic Scholar, hale and hearty, from the hands of the criminals.

The group further asks Government at all levels to consider palliative measures to cushion the economic hardship being experienced in the country, pointing out that illiteracy and corruption are predisposing factors to social vices in any organized setting.

” This is by no means trying to justify the rise of kidnapping in Nigeria, we also request that a serious national security sitting be convened with all security agencies and other stakeholders in attendance to harness national security policies on internal security management”.
