"My Husband Can Not Have An Erection, Therefore He Cannot Rape A Child" - Wife Tells Court

The Kasama Magistrate Court in Zambia has ordered a 73-year-old man to undergo medical test to ascertain if he was sexually dysfunctional as claimed by his wife. This is in a case in which Ignatius Chileshe 73, is facing a charge of having defiled a three year old minor on August 2, 2016. ..


A witness told the court that she found the accused red-handed defiling the minor at his home on the material day. Kasama Resident Magistrate Bathromel Kaonga found Chileshe with a case to answer and put him on his defence.

However, when the case came up for defence, the wife to the accused Theresa Mulenga, told the court that her husband was sexually dysfunctional hence there was no way he could have defiled the minor.

This prompted magistrate Kaonga to order the accused to undergo medical tests at Kasama general hospital to prove if he was sexual dysfunctional as claimed by his wife.

Magistrate Kaonga has since set November 3, 2016 as a date for continued hearing of the matter.

The accused is currently remanded at Kasama’s Milima prison.
