China’s Public Security Ministry said 40 telecommunications fraud suspects were escorted back to China from Kenya on Monday. Meanwhile, 36 suspects in another fraud group who were deported in April have been arrested. They allegedly swindled more than 26 million yuan (U.S.$3.9 million) out of mainland residents by pretending to be members of Beijing and Shanghai police. The two groups were believed to have colluded in fraud activities.

For the five suspects from Taiwan, the Chinese mainland police have kept their Taiwan counterparts informed of all developments. Meanwhile, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the mainland has said on Monday that all the telecom fraud victims and major evidences are in Chinese mainland. So it will help investigate the case effectively and thoroughly to keep all the suspects in mainland. The office also said the decision is welcomed by mainland and Taiwan people.
