Six Chinese men are facing criminal charges after catching and cooking an endangered alligator that has washed up on a street in East China’s Anhui Province. 

The Chinese alligator, had wound up on the streets of Wuhu County after a rainstorm lashed the region.

Six passersby filmed themselves catching the living alligator, boiling it and consuming it. The clip, which was uploaded online, drew the ire of netizens, as well as the attention of the police, which carried out an investigation.
