Troops of 223 Battalion, 1 Brigade, and Nigerian Army have killed nine armed bandits in Maru local government area of Zamfara state.
The troops also recovered three AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 rifle magazines, five rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a machete and 24 motorcycles after a thorough combing of the general area.
A statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said few of the bandits also escaped with gunshot wounds.
“In a sheer act of bravery, local vigilantes at Yargada village, Gusau local government area apprehended another armed bandit,” he said.
He said the troops’ morale were very high during the operation, and were determined to continue to enhance the general security of their respective areas of operation through patrols, raids and clearance.
