Trader, 28, docked over alleged N6.8m cable theft



Police, yesterday, docked a 28-year-old trader, Stephen Luka, before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, over alleged theft of N6,820,000.


The defendant, who has no fixed address, is standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, willful damage and stealing preferred against him by the police.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Cyriacus Osuji, informed the court that the defendant and others, now at large, committed the alleged offence on June 22.

He said the incident took place at 2:30p.m., along Lekki-Epe Expressway by Marwa, Lekki Phase 1, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state. Magistrate Omoy Ele, granted him bail in the sum of N250,000, with two sureties in like sum.

She said the sureties must be gainfully employed, show evidence of three years tax clearance, their addresses verified and adjourned the case to July 13, for mention.
