Few days after a Trailer lost its brake in front of Dariye Park near Naraguta Junction, Jos killing three Keke Napep riders and injuring many, Another truck owned by African richest business man Alh. Aliko Dangote this evening lost its brake in front of Jan Kwano hospital Jos killing 7 persons at a spot and many others injured.
The question that comes to mind is, to what extent do we value human life in Nigeria? Between 2009 and 2013, about 30 435 Nigerians died through road accidents, this is the size of Gyula, a city in Hungary.
We have lost men, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunties and others to this needless accidents. To what extent are we curbing speed violations? What are we doing about dangerous driving?
What of drunk driving? What of fatigue? We need to address all these if we must be have a semblance of safety on our roads.
