One of Cebu's biggest alleged drug dealers, Jeffrey Otom Diaz alias "Jaguar", was shot dead by Regional Intelligence Division-7 operatives and Las Piñas police along with one of his cohorts past 10 p.m. Friday in Phillipine.
Diaz was killed barely a week after he granted an interview to the media in an undisclosed location where he said he no longer dealt drugs and planned to surrender to police.
Superintendent Rex Derilo, chief of the Regional Intelligence Division-7, said the actual target of the operation was a certain Alvaro Alvaro alias "Barok", the number one drug personality in that region. Alvaro has a standing arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court-7 Branch 25 Judge Jerry Dicdican.
However, it was Diaz who was flagged by the police and killed in the encounter together with Paul Vincent Gloria, 26, of Uranium Street, Las Piñas City, who served as his driver and guard.
