Omisore looses out in Osun PDP as new chairman, Adesoji Adagunodo emerges

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun on Thursday elected a former member of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Adesoji Adagunodo as its chairman unopposed.  The Congress was supervised by the National Secretariat of the party, led by Justice Emmanuel Dodo(rtd) and officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (NEC).  image Although the congress was reportedly peaceful but one of the aspirants in the chairmanship contest, Mr Bayo Faforiji and his supporters boycotted the election on the grounds that the constituted committee had failed to obey the court injunction on the said congress.  image   The congress was, however held under the close supervision of other party chieftains, including the PDP National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, member of the party BOT, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, former Minister of Defense (State), Mrs. Olusola Obada, among others.Likewise, some other PDP chieftains in the likes of the immediate past Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, Former Osun Deputy Governor, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, the outgoing Osun Central PDP Senatorial Leader, Mr. Bunmi Jenyo among others who are reportedly loyal to Mr. Faforiji were also absent at the congress.  Speaking with Journalists at the party’s secretariat, Faforiji, who claimed to have boycotted the election on what he regarded as “leadership impunity”, describing the congress as a “charade”.  Faforiji who had earlier vowed not to par take in the election, condemned the role of the committee for flouting the court order which had earlier restrained them from conducting the election.  The party chairmanship aspirant who reacted angrily on the outcome of the election said, he and his supporters would deploy all mechanism within the constitutional framework to resist all forms of irregularity.  He described the whole process as a “child play” that lacks required intellectual substance, thereby called on his loyalists to remain firm.  According to him, the election was illegal, null and void because it did not follow the due process.  Faforji, said his supporters converged at the secretariat to protest the “injustice being melted to them.  ” We already have a court injunction restraining the committee from conducting the congress.  “What they are doing is illegal and it will not stand. They are jokers.  ” Because they are many, does not mean they are doing the right thing. Our party is not a dictatorial party.  “They are only repeating the same mistake they made last week”, he submitted.  As at the time of filling this report, the controversy trailing the conduct of the election had not be resolved, just as the newly elected State Chairman had not addressed the press.
