the recent killings by Fulani herdsmen in Ukpabi,Nimbo, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State yesterday -which left scores dead, the senate president has asked the Committee on Agriculture to fast-track the Senate Public Hearing on the attacks..
Below is what the senate president said on his page;
Today, I asked the Committee on Agriculture to fast-track the Senate Public Hearing on the killings by cattle herdsmen. It is important that such violence is addressed and curbed to ensure the safety, well-being and unity of the country.
Additionally, we also passed a motion to prosecute violators that fail to adhere to building codes.
Between 1974 and 2016, Nigeria has lost hundreds of lives to building collapses that stem from the failure of contractors to adhere to construction guidelines. To act as deterrents, the Senate has urged the Federal Government and State governments to prosecute violators of building codes to the fullest extent of the law.
