No fewer than 222 cultists have publicly renounced cultism in Edo and Delta State. 43 were reported to have renounced at the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma, while 179 others renounced at Ozoro Polytechnic, Ogwashi Uku, Asaba, Delta State....
Two suspected cultists were also on Thursday arrested by the police at the University town Ekpoma for allegedly recruiting some students into their cult group.
A senior police officer attached to Ekpoma police division who did not want his name in the print, confirmed that the suspects were arrested after a tip off and with the help of a vigilante group. He added that they would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
Speaking to a Punch correspondent on telephone, the dean of students affairs of the University, Prof. Isaac Aigbedion, said that the renunciation marks the beginning of a new dawn in the University.
“The Devil has been put to shame and good things will continue in their lives,” he said.
