Kolapo Kolade and members of the State Economic Team in a meeting at Oshuntokun Villa of the Government House with the recently elected 16 Local Government Council Chairmen...
The meeting which bothers on taking governance closer to the people as well as enhancing their welfare also discussed measures to be put in place to boost the economy, improve security and generate employment.
The challenges ranged from lack of funds to lack of clear cut separation of state from local government functions which were hitherto merged together by the ousted Fayemi administration.
Governor Ayodele Fayose in his address advised the council chiefs to take their time in learning and understanding the terrain as well as the people. He challenged them to get their lawyers to work in separating functions of the LG from that of the state adding that his administration will not usurp the duties of the LG.
Charging the chairmen to manage the LG economy within the ambit of availability of funds, Governor Ayodele Fayose tasked the 16 council chairs to use their magic wand and ingenuity to turn the ugly economic situation in their areas around.
