He was reported to have been abducted on Tuesday around Paramount FM radio station area on the Siun-Kopape- Sagamu- Abeokuta Expressway, while he was travelling from his base in Ijebu Ode to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital...
The victim’s younger brother, Abolore Oshinkoya, said his brother alighted from his car to ease himself when an unmarked Honda, End of Discussion model, pulled up by his side and three gunmen alighted from the car. He added that the RTEAN boss was ordered to enter the kidnappers car at gunpoint.
The victim, who is the Chairman of the Ansar-ud-deen Society of Nigeria, Ijebu Ode chapter, was said to be on his way to attend a meeting with the Chairman of the Ogun State Local Government Commission in the capital city.
According to Abolore, his brother’s abductors have yet to make any contact with his family after they took him away without allowing him to pick his mobile phones.
He said the abductors made a U-turn with their car and headed for Sagamu immediately Olayinka was abducted around 9am.
Abolore said the family reported the matter at the Trade Fair Police Post on Kobape Road, but were directed to Ibara Police Division.
He said, “The Divisional Police Officer at Ibara went after abductors, hoping that their vehicle might develop mechanical fault on the expressway, but that effort was futile.”
Abolore said his brother’s abduction might not be unconnected with his ambition to contest for the chairmanship position of the transport union.
He claimed that he overhead one of his abductors warning Olayinka that he was toying with his life by vying for the position.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the police Anti-Kidnapping Squad were on the trail of Olayinka’s abductors.
He said, “ The matter is already being handled by the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence. The Anti-Kidnapping Squad have swung into action.
