The Lagos State Government at the weekend said it had prosecuted over 50 defendants participating in illegal lotteries operations in the state.
The state government so warned that it could bring the full weight of the law against any operator without proper licence in the Lagos State Lotteries Board...
According to him, the Lotteries Board has detained and prosecuted previously over 50 suspects for participating in prohibited Lottery operations in the state.
He added that security operatives "have been mandated to go all out in the metropolis and detain anyone found running without permit and authorisation from the state lotteries board."
Gbajabiamila insisted the board "stayed the only statutory regulatory body for lottery and related actions in the state."
He clarified that the board was established by the Lagos State Lotteries Law 2004 (as amended) and authorised to permit and controls gaming activities conducted inside the state.
He clarified that the board neither problem nor recognises 'sports lottery license/permit' or 'promotional lottery licenses' by whatsoever name called within the state for operations.
Gbajabiamila consequently counseled members of the public against patronising illegal operators.
He listed some of recognised licensed operators let "to conduct lottery and related activities in Lagos State to include Premier Lotto Limited (Babaijebu), Winners Golden Chance Ventures Limited (Wonderful Opportunity lotto), Winlot Global Resources Ventures Limited (Winlot), Superior Games Limited (Big Games) and Softplug Gaming Nigeria Limited."
