Nice one : Police Arrest Fraudster Who Hacks Ondo Dep Gov’s Account

A serial Internet fraudster, Daniel Obasi, who specialised in hacking into the social media accounts of prominent government officials has been apprehended by men of the Nigeria Police Force, Ondo State Command.....

Daniel, 35-year-old, was arrested at No 1. Zion Street, Port Harcourt, River State, by men of the State Security Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID).
Commissioner of Police in the State, Mike Ogbodu, who disclosed this to journalists last weekend in Akure, said the arrested fraudster belong to a wanted syndicate and duped many unsuspecting government officials in the country using their social media account.
Ogbodu explained that among those whose social media account was hacked by the fraudster is the Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, thereby using his wall pictures for impersonation.
He explained that the syndicate is in the habit of hacking into the facebook account of their victims by creating another code in place of the owner’s original code.
“Thereafter, they would begin to relate with members of the public by impersonating the real owner”, he said.
Confessing, Obasi, said he is a businessman at the time of his arrest, noting that he had only realised the sum of N600, 000 since he began the fraudulent act.
The Police Commissioner also added that the command has foiled an attempt to rob the United Bank for Africa (UBA) on the Ado/Owo branch in Akure.
He revealed that his men at the bank surveillance squad discovered the long tunnel dug by suspected armed robbers in the city.
“The length of the tunnel dug from the perimeter fence of the bank into the bank premises was about 10 to 15 meters. The tunnel was apparently prepared to serve as a passage to the bank premises to carry out their nefarious act without being noticed” Ogbodu said.
Items recovered from the scene are shovel, diggers and other tools used for the digging.
The Police also arrested two persons, Abdullahi Matt and Emmanuel Ezekwe, who are members of syndicate from Lagos State and alleged to have stolen 70 vehicle brain boxes of unsuspecting vehicle owners.
Also, six-man robbery gang arrested in Ore, alleged to have snatched a truck loaded with biscuits at gunpoint from Lagos State were also paraded before journalists.
The gang; Celestine Okafor, Arinze Orji, Uche Sunday, Chibueze Waribe, Obi Ikechukwu and Kolawole Ipindemi, were apprehended where they had allegedly wanted to sell the stolen goods with the truck recovered with the loot.
The Police also paraded three suspected kidnappers who allegedly abducted a Chinese, Jiang Peng, working at a wood factory near Ore, but had been rescued by the police.
The Command, however, seeks the total cooperation and support of the public in helping to nip in the bud the activities of criminals in the state.
