Ex-lawmaker urges Fayemi to reconcile Ekiti APC groups

Former House of Representatives member, Hon Bamidele Faparusi, has appealed to former Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to use the opportunity of his nomination as minister to unite the fragmented All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

Faparusi hinged such unity on the need to make the party a formidable force ahead of the 2018 governorship election in the state.

Faparusi, who represented Emure/Ekiti East/Gbonyin Federal Constituency in the immediate past House of Representatives, said in a statement in Ado Ekiti yesterday that there was urgent need for coalition of forces within APC to be able to wrest power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government in the state.

At present, the APC in the state has several groups including Fayemi’s group; APC Action Group led by Senator Babafemi Ojudu and the Bibire Group led by Hon Opeyemi Bamidele, among others.

Faparusi said that Fayemi as a minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet would automatically become the APC rallying point in the state, urging him to provide purposeful leadership that would unite the party, rather than ripping it further apart.

The former lawmaker expressed confidence in Fayemi’s ability to replicate the legacies he left behind as Ekiti State governor at the federal level, saying: “There is need for Dr Fayemi to address all the contending issues at his home base for him to earn respect of his colleagues at the Federal Executive Council.
