Eight persons have reportedly been killed in an auto accident on Friday along Ondo-Ile-Ife Road in Osun State, which involved a truck and a commercial bus.
The accident occurred at around 4.30pm about 10km to Ile-Ife, according to the accounts of commuters who had arrived at the scene immediately after the incident.
The cause of the accident was, however, not clear as of the time of filing this report but the accounts suggested that a heavy rainfall in the area at the time of the accident might have contributed to it.
One of the commuters, Mr. Kunle Bamigbose, said, “The green commercial bus involved in the accident was badly damaged. Out of the nine passengers in the bus, only one of them survived and has been taken to a hospital.
“The rain was very heavy so we cannot rule out the fact that it might have contributed to the accident. The bus was travelling from Ile-Ife to Ondo while the truck was going the other way. Some corpses are still lying by the road as I speak.”
