AHEAD of the coronation of the Olu of Warri designate, Prince Godfrey Ikenwoli Emiko, engineers, surveyors, architects, designers and planners of Itsekiri ethnic nationality, have been summoned to an emergency meeting.
The gathering, which is scheduled to hold in Warri on October 10, 2015, is expected to be a platform where some salient issues cornering the coronation would be discussed with a view to arriving at a short and long term work plan...
In a chat with Vanguard yesterday in Lagos, convener of the forum, Chief (Mrs.) Rita Lori-Ogbebor, said the proposed event became necessary given the significance of the forthcoming coronation.
Lori-Ogbebor, who is the Igba of Warri Kingdom, said: ‘’The Olu-designate is now in Edaiken where he is in seclusion for 90 days. During this period he is expected to carry out all the cultural activities and also commune with God and his ancestors. Activities are in full gear in Ode-Itsekiri and its environs. All technocrats are expected to contribute their expertise and make the coronation befitting and successful.
‘’We are inviting our sons and daughters, who are professionals to meet with us and see how they can cost the work very quickly and work to produce a short and long term plan which will be befitting to all Itsekiri. The engineers, architects and planners should be able to meet us on October 10, 2015 at Peter Kings Guest House, G.R.A, Warri. This is an important task that should be treated with seriousness by all Itsekiri sons and daughters. The coronation of our king must be befitting. The land of our fathers requires the services of our professionals and we expect that they heed this call. Itsekiri nation is blessed with wonderful technocrats in abundance, who are needed to make themselves available for this paramount task. ”
The coronation is expected to commence when the Olu designate comes out of the 90 days seclusion.
Prince Godfrey Ikenwoli Abiloye Emiko, was unveiled as successor to the throne during the formal announcement of the demise of Ogiame Atuwatse II at the special congregation of Itsekiri traditional chiefs and people at Ode Itsekiri.
His emergence was announced by the Ojomo of Warri Kingdom, Chief Yaya Pessu I, having assumed the role of Ologbotsere, a position in the traditional hierarchy saddled with such responsibility.
