The Magistrate, Mrs Sule Amzat, said the accused should be kept behind bars pending facts and sentence.

The accused is facing a two-count charge of maliciously administering poison with intent to harm and inflicting wounds.

She said her action was retaliatory following the destruction of the foodstuff she bought for her family’s dinner by her cousin, Mrs Dorcas Kamoru.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sergeant Luck Ihiehie, told the court that the accused committed the offences on September 4 at about 7.00 p.m. at Ikosi-Ketu area of Lagos.

He said the accused poisoned the cassava flour (fufu) the complainant (the cousin) prepared for sell to the public.

"The complainant went home to prepare the `fufu’ for the next market day and she discovered that the taste and colour had changed," he said.

The offences contravened sections 241 and 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The magistrate adjourned the case to Friday.
