NANS COMMEND GOVERNOR OLUSEGUN MIMIKO ON THE TAKEOFF OF THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, ILE-OLUJI
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) commends the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, for his unprecedented and unrivaled show of statesmanship for his selfless contribution to the successful takeoff of academic activities at the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.......
The Governor has demonstrated attributes of a true and thorough-bred national politician and leader by donating the premises of the St. Patrick Mega Primary School, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, to the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, to enable the commencement of academic activities at the institution with immediate effect.
The Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, established by the Federal Government during the last administration, has been unable to commence academic activities due to the non-release of fund/takeoff grant by the Federal Government. NANS is urging the Federal Government to release, with immediate effect, takeoff grant to the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji and other newly established institutions across the country to enable the takeoff of these institutions for smooth running.
The noble act of the Ondo State Government has opened up avenues for adequate and quality educational opportunities for prospective Nigerians seeking admission into the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji. We urge other state governments, who have any newly established federal institution situated in their state, to emulate this gesture to enhance the delivery of quality education to Nigerian students.
Finally, NANS is using this medium to charge the Ondo State Government to find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis which has led to the closure of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OSUSTECH) to enable Nigerian students on that campus enjoy access to their academic activities.
