Rep to Buhari: Extend graft probe to APC states

National Assembly member, Hon Thaddeus Aina, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the probe of corruption to the All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled states for Nigerians to have confidence of fairness in the exercise.

Aina, who represents Ekiti North Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, said the APC-led Federal Government was going about its probe of corrupt leaders selectively.

Aina told journalists at his Ilogbo Ekiti hometown in Ekiti State during a thanksgiving service and reception over his election, that “for instance, nobody is talking about the corruption in the APC states in the South West.

Those being interrogated all along are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”. The PDP chieftain, who expressed support for bid to stamp corruption out of the country, said: “Let it be done in a very clean way. It should not be selective. “The President has to go about the probe in a way it will attract Nigerians’ confidence. It has to be done in a fair manner.

The rule of law has to be followed as well,” the lawmaker said. Aina, who said the Buhari administration should talk less and get down to the real business of governance, added: “What we have seen in the last three months of the PDP government has been a lot of noise whereas nothing has been done. The government has to sit up and face governance in the interest of Nigerians,” he said.

His colleagues, Hon Ayodele Oladimeji (Irepodun/ Ifelodun Federal Constituency) and Hon Akin Awodumila (Gbonyin/ Emure/Ekiti East Federal Constituency), corroborated him, saying it was time Buhari faced the business of governance. Oladimeji said the ongoing corruption probe by the Buhari government could be done silently without noise and achieve the desired results.
