The Bauchi state Police Command has arrested 2 suspected kidnappers in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
A statement signed by the command Public Relation Officer, Haruna Mohammed, on Thursday, said the suspects demanded ransom of N6m after kidnapping six teenagers.
He said, “On the 29/6/2015 at about 17:00hrs., unknown gunmen numbering about six kidnapped 6 teenagers at Pali village in Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State to unknown destination.
“Suspects later demanded for the sum of six million Naira (6,000,000) ransom through phone call before they will release the victims.
“Since then, discreet investigation led to the arrest of two suspects who are Alhaji Isa Ya’u, male and 60yrs of Mai Ari in Alkaleri LGA. And Mamman Madi, male and 25yrs of Yelo village, Alkaleri LGA.
“So far, police rescued one victim namely Shema Danji, male, and 12yrs of same address while effort is on to liberate others and get the fleeing suspects arrested.
Exhibit recovered from the suspects according to Mohammed include, two handsets with the contact’s GSM numbers.
