N/East Govs to Meet Buhari on B/Haram Victims

The six governors of Northeast will soon meet President Muhammadu Buhari on the issue of resettlement and reintegration of the victims of the Boko Haram insurgency, Gombe State governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has said.
Speaking while receiving report of the Northeast transformation strategy with the theme 'Development Agenda: a follow-up to last year's North East economic Forum,' in Abuja yesterday, Dankwambo said they wanted a tripartite approach on the issue of resettlement from the federal government.
The governor said the Northeast Governors' Forum had also advocated for the internationalization of issues of development of the region in view of devastating effect of insurgency.
Dankwambo told journalists at the end of the event, which took place at the Bauchi State Governor's Lodge, a committee on the Northeast regional development plan would liaise with the Department for International Development (DFID) to come up with a master plan on the issue.
He said they also mandated the committee to find ways of engaging other international development partners for necessary support.
He said they equally approved the setting up of their secretariat in Bauchi State for day-to-day activities.
