OPERATIVES of the Department of State Services attached to the Niger State Government House on Tuesday beat up the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State, Ibraheem Dooba.
Dooba had gone to the office of the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Ketso, with some visitors but was prevented from entering the premises by some DSS officers attached to the office.
Despite explanations by the governor’s spokesman that the deputy governor sent for him, the security officers refused to let him in.
After a scuffle, he left the deputy governor’s office and the security officials later came to lure him out of his office.
They lured him out by telling him that the Chief Security Officer of the Niger State Government House wanted to see him.
The DSS operatives pounced on him on the way to the CSO’s office and beat him black and blue. Dooba clothes were torn in the process.
It was learnt that the security operatives insisted on taking the CPS to their headquarters in Minna, saying that their director wanted to see him (Dooba).
The intervention of some officials of Niger State Government House, who drew the attention of the governor’s Aide-de-Camp, Isah Raji, saved Dooba from further drubbing.
Raji came to the Government House to personally rescue Dooba, whom he took through the back gate of the premises.
