The police, Tuesday, arraigned a 34-year-old driver, Adefisayo Ademola, on before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court, for allegedly stealing a Toyota Picnic valued at N1.3million.
While testifying in court, the prosecutor, ASP Isah Atanegbe, said Ademola and one other, now at large, stole the vehicle with registration No. REL 358 AA, belonging to one Mr. Segun Albert.
According to the prosecutor, the accused person committed the offence on June 20, 2015 at about 7 a.m. at Ayus Hotel, in Akure.
Atanegbe said the offence contravened Section 383 and punishable under sections 516 and 390(9) of Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Ademola however pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing preferred against him.

Counsel to the accused, Mr. Peter Daramola, asked the court to grant his client bail in liberal term.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Victoria Bob-Manuel, consequently granted Ademola bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
The Magistrate also ordered that the surety must submit a year’s tax clearance obtained from the state internal revenue service to the court and fill an affidavit of means.
She adjourned the case till August 11, 2015 for trial.
