DR. Alex Otti, the Abia State governorship candidate on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the April governorship election, said yesterday, that there was an assassination attempt on his life.
Otti, who spoke to journalists at his Campaign Office in Umuahia, disclosed that the incident occurred in early hours of Friday in a private guest house in Maitama area of Abuja, the nation’s capital.
But in a reaction, Abia State government dismissed Otti’s claim as a hoax, saying there was no attempt on his life in his private guest house in Abuja.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Abia governor, Mr. Godwin Adindu, said in a statement that Otti “is merely trying to whip up sentiments to attract the sympathy of the security agencies and the electoral tribunal to his disastrous petition,” saying his lamentation was the cry of a drowning man.
According to Otti, the unknown gunmen, he said, killed one of the policemen on duty in the premises of the guest house. The incident, he said happened at 2a.m.
According to him, he left the guest house on Thursday before unknown gunmen struck.
His words: “In the early hours of this morning (last Thursday) I got information that yet-to-identified people invaded my guest house in Abuja through the back fence, cut the wire mesh and scaled through the fence and made through to where I stayed.”
