The South West states chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have expressed their displeasure with the pattern of appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the chairmen, all of the appointments had an ethnic slant, as they have all been from the core North and all of them northern Muslims except his spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina.
In a joint statement issued on July 6, Monday, they vowed to resist any attempt by some elements in the party to humiliate the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, NAN reports.
They also vowed not recognise the emergence of Bukola Saraki as Senate President, and Yakubu Dogara as Speaker of the House of Representatives, until the crisis in the National Assembly is resolved by the party.
The statement was signed by Chief Henry Ajomale (Lagos), Prince Gboyega Famoodun (Osun), Alhaji Roqeeb Adeniji (Ogun), Chief Akin Oke of Oyo State, Chief Olajide Awe (Ekiti) and Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, (Ondo).

Meanwhile, the South West APC has debunked the report, describing it as false, Daily Independent reports.
In a statement signed by the Lagos state publicity secretary, Joe Igbokwe, APC said the report was potentially dangerous and could create further divisions within the APC family.
“The South West APC Chairmen never met anywhere in the South West and did not in any way issue the purported statement.
“We know we have some issues to resolve at the National Assembly but it has not come to the point that we have to use our hands to pull down a solid house we have built together.
“Consequently, we want to warn these mischief makers to desist from this ugly act that was framed in the first place to heat the polity and further embarrass the leadership of the party nationwide. This is the handwork of the enemies of our great party and they will fail at the fullness of time.”

They therefore, called on APC leaders and supporters in the South West and Nigeria as a whole to remain calm as the issues in the National Assembly would be resolved soon.
It should be noted that so far, Buhari since being inaugurated on May 29, has made 11 appointments, out of which only one is from the South West.
Linus Okorie, a member of House of Representatives from Ebonyi state, had earlier accused Buhari and the APC of violating the constitutional provision on all their appointments. However, the president has said he is implementing a national agenda in his appointments not northern.
