The octogenarian was reportedly abducted by unknown persons at about 9.00pm after she had retired to bed at her residence at Ilogbo-Ekiti, Ido-Osi Local Government Area.
While the suspected kidnappers have yet to reach her family on the phone to make any demands, search parties sent to comb the forest in the area have returned with no sight of the woman.
The town wore a mournful look since the woman was taken away, as such a thing had never happened in the town.
One of the community leaders, who identified himself as Adekanbi said, "We have been searching for the old woman without success and nobody knows where they had taken her to.
"The whole community is afraid and we now live in perpetual fear because it can happen to anybody. We are more concerned because we are no longer safe.
"In a state or country where we have police and other security agencies, this is very unfortunate."
The police spokesperson, Alberto Adeyemi, said officers and men of the command were making efforts to find the old woman and secure her release.
