No fewer than 105 directors in various ministries and government agencies in Ekiti State were on Thursday made to write a test that would qualify them to fill vacant positions in the state’s civil service.
There are vacancies for the positions of permanent secretaries, administrative secretaries and general managers for some ministries, departments and agencies.
During the test, the State’s Head of Service, Olugbenga Faseluka, said the examination was aimed at filling the available vacancies in top positions in the public service with a strong and credible leadership through an open and competitive process.
According to him, the examination would be the beginning of a competitive process for filling the available vacancies.
He said, “This is a competitive process. This government has decided to put the civil service at its desired pedestal. Any form of entry, be it recruitment … promotion, like the one we are doing this morning, will continue to be a competitive process that is starting with a written exam.
“The purpose is to make sure that we ensure that the best are engaged in the various categories of the service.”
Of the 105 candidates who wrote the examination, 20 were women.
