1. President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday approved over N400bn to assist States that could not pay salaries of their workers. Report says the fund was sourced from recent LNG proceeds to the federation account.
2. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Kenneth Minimah has boasted that the Army would fight until the reign of Boko Haram is over. Minimah was speaking on Monday in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital while marking the Armed Forces Day.
3. Following the devastating effect of Boko Haram insurgency in the North East, the UN has commenced screening of about 2,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) for the first phase of providing means of livelihood to them so they can become useful to themselves and their immediate environment.
4. The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has confirmed that 44 persons were killed in the Sunday twin bomb blasts that rocked the city of Jos, the Plateau State capital, while 67 people sustained different levels of injuries.
5. A Monday bomb blast in the city of Kano is believed to have killed many people. Report says the explosive which was detonated by a female suicide bomber went off close to a Mosque.
6. Report from Kogi State says 15 passengers were killed in a ghastly motor accident involving a 70 seater luxury bus and a trailer truck conveying cows. Report says 22 of the cows were also killed. The accident occurred near Irepeni village along Okene – Lokoja road on monday.
7. The Nigerian Army has released about 182 detainees formally held over allegation of Boko Haram membership.

Following the sack of Stephen Keshi as Super Eagles coach, former Nigeria senior national team handler, Johannes Bonfrere, has advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), to appoint a foreign coach as the next Super Eagles’ handler, saying only a foreign coach can put the Eagles in their rightful position.
9. The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase has ordered Commissioners of Police nationwide to strengthen security at all Mosques, Churches and other worship centers across the country. This was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Force PRO, CSP Abayomi Shogunle, occasioned by recent bombing of places worship by Boko Haram insurgents.
10. As follow up to the allegation of alteration of Senate Standing Rules, the Police have confirmed that they have met with the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa, and some principal officers over the matter.
