Boko Haram Kills 52 in Yobe, Borno Villages |
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents killed 42 people in two villages in Biu and Hawul local government areas of Borno State as a female suicide bomber struck in Yobe, killing 10 people, and injuring 30 others.
The insurgents, numbering over 30 reportedly drove in convoy of Hilux vehicles and motorcycles and killed the victims in Debiro Hawul and Debiro Biu after looting assorted grains, drugs in patent stores and animals between Monday and yesterday.
Sources said the insurgents first attacked Debiro Biu were they killed 20 people.
Michael Isa, a resident of the area said the insurgents set many houses on fire.
"The terrorists stormed Debiro around noon while shooting sporadically in the air, forcing men, women and children to scamper for safety.
"They looted our shops and silos and then slit the throat of those that could not flee; several others sustained injuries. We are now homeless and our sources of livelihood have been destroyed," he said.

An eye witness, Malam Usaini Jibril, a driver that conveyed the injured victims to Hospital in Damaturu said it was an underage suicide bomber that detonated around 11:00am.
He said he counted 10 people killed and over 30 injured but couldn't tell the exact number of people affected.
"The girl that detonated the bomb is a very small girl of about 12 years, I counted 10 dead bodies and over 30 injured," he said.
Our correspondent who visited Sani Abacha General Hospital Damaturu confirmed seeing 26 victims receiving treatment.
A victim who is a NURTW official, Alhaji Idi Ahmed said he was loading a car at Kasuwar Buhunna market when the suicide bomber struck.
"I can only remember the loud sound, and people trying to lift me up. I saw blood gushing out of me, this is all I can remember," he said.
Security forces are yet to confirm the attack but the medical director of the hospital Dr Garba Fika confirmed receiving 26 patients.
