RAMADAN FASTING BEGINS TODAY - SULTAN


The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar has announced the sighting of the new moon which ushered in the holy month of Ramadan, 1438 AH.

He said reliable reports of moon sighting were received from Muslims leaders and organisations across the country which were duly verified and authenticated by the National Moon Sighting Committee.

"Consequent upon this Thursday, the 18th day of June 2015 becomes the first day of Ramadan 1436 AH. I therefore call on the Muslim Ummah to commence the fasting accordingly," he said.

The monarch, implored the Ummah to devote themselves fully to Ibadat throughout the Holy Month, pray fervently for the new leadership in Nigeria to succeed in steering the affairs of our country as well as sustenance of peace and stability of our great nation and the world in general.

"We also continue to urge all Muslims to use this Holy Month to rededicate themselves to the teachings of Islam and continue to live peacefully with one another irrespective of religious and tribal differences. May Allah reward us for the Ibadat we are going to offer this month with Jannat Firdaus," he prayed.
