Judge reserves judgment in Fani-Kayode’s money laundering case

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, Thursday, reserved judgment in the money laundering case involving a former aviation minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode till July 1, 2015.
The presiding judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, had earlier fixed Thursday for judgment, after the adoption of final written addresses and summary arguments by the parties.
According to the judge, the judgment was ready for delivery but had to be postponed because of the absence of the prosecutor representing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Festus Keyamo.
Though the accused person and his counsel were in court, the judge insisted on delivering judgment in the presence of Keyamo, despite the appearance of Mr. Festus Afeiyodion from Keyamo’s chambers.
The judge subsequently asked Keyamo’s representative to ask his principal when it would be convenient for him to appear in court, to which Keyamo requested if the judge can stand down the case till 1pm or adjourn to a future date. The judge however said 1pm will be too far in the day for her to deliver her judgment and adjourned to July 1.
