How Police Killed Two Nursing Mothers At a Funeral

TRAGEDY struck in Ivhiokhile quarters in Fugar, headquarters of Etsako Etsako Central Local Council of Edo State at the weekend, as a policeman gunned down two nursing mothers at a funeral.
The Guardian gathered that the police bullet narrowly missed a two-month-old baby strapped to the back of his mother before hitting the woman on her neck.
One of women identified as Sandra Imhaku, was said to have lost her husband last year while expecting the baby, as she alone cared for four children before she lost her life.‎ She was said to have been rushed to Irrua Specialist Hospital, Irrua where she died on Sunday morning.
The other victim simply identified as Mrs. Aishitu Saliu, an indigene of Fugar, was said to have come from Warri, Delta State with her husband to attend the funeral of her in-law one late Mr. Itu Joseph.

She was said to have collapsed and died instantly following the shooting.
The policeman was said to have accompanied a traditional ruler from Uzaire clan who was a guest at the burial and started shooting sporadically for unknown reasons.
A family member, Mike Imhaku, said that the killings have been reported at Auchi police division.
The Commissioner of Police, Samuel Adegbuyi confirmed the unfortunate incident but described it as accidental discharge.
He said the policemen is under custody for investigation
