Gunmen Abduct Cocoa Association Of Nigeria Boss

Suspected kidnappers have abducted the Executive Secretary of the Cocoa Association of Nigeria (CAN), Mr. Michael Adewunmi, a police source on Friday confirmed to NairaNaijaNews in Akure, Ondo State.

The police source said that Mr. Adewunmi was ambushed at the Oshokoti area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The source said a black Toyota ‎lexus jeep belonging to the victim was abandoned with its four doors open widely at the junction of the street where he was reported as abducted.
He added that Adewunmi lost his Ipad, phones, and other sophisticated personal gadgets to the kidnappers.  
"We learnt that the victim was coming from a program and heading home during the late night hours, when he was forced to enter their [kidnappers] vehicle" a police source said.
We gathered that‎ the vehicle was later parked at the Ijapo Police Station as an investigation commenced. The vehicle had the Registration No. Ondo ANG 149 AA.
A mobile phone belonging to the victim was also recovered by the police after being returned by a local samaritan, who picked it up around Olu Foam area of the State.
"The phone is now with us,” the police added.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Oluwole Ogodo, confirmed the news of the abduction to us.
Ogodo said an investigation had already begun and vowed that his officers would do everything possible to ensure the victim was released alive.
He also advised the family of the victim not to pay any ransom to the kidnappers.
At the time of publication the kidnappers have yet to contact the victim’s family to demand a ransom.
